Mother Nature vacations in South Padre, TX with avengence.
![]() Hurricane season is frightening when you live overlooking the intercoastal and about a block from the Gulf. It is important to be thankful when you are spared the life changing experiences others are experiencing. I am definitely saying a prayer for those in harm's way and saying a prayer of gratitude that I am currently safe. Thursday, July 17

Great walk today.
I was able to go to Seminole Park today to walk. It was awesome to be outside walking in the woods. The colors were green and brown thanks to all the trees, ferns and grass, yellow flowers dotted the trail and rust colored pine needles were sprinkled around like mulch.

I even saw a big turtle taking his afternoon stroll, squirrels, assorted birds and bunnies. It was wonderful.
Is it raining where you are?
This is a fantastic - put life into perspective - story.

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Target. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters. Everyone stood there under the awning just inside the door of the Target. We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. The little girl's voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in 'Mom let's run through the rain,' she said. 'What?' Mom asked.'Lets run through the rain!' She repeated. 'No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit,' Mom replied. The young child waited about another minute and repeated:'Mom, let's run through the rain.' 'We'll get soaked if we do,' Mom said. 'No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,' the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm. This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet? 'Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!' The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith. 'Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing,' Mom said. Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing. Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories. So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday. I hope you take the time to run through the rain and let the child within you have fun. Sunday, July 13
It's true BUT often easier said than found.

Tip to end the yo-yo syndrome of dieting.
![]() Have you lost and relost the same 10 pounds over and over again? Here is a tip that might prove helpful. Go to the grocery store and purchase a bag or bags of sugar, dog food, or whatever that's weight equals the weight you have lost. Take it home and put it in an old pillowcase. Now lift it. Sometimes we lose weight but it is just a number until we lose enough that it changes our size of clothing or people start to notice. The real reason to lose weight is health. The pillowcase trick is a good reminder that our legs, our heart, our body has had to deal with this extra unnecessary weight as it tries to function. Good Luck! Tuesday, July 8
Sometimes life is like a circus.

Wishing you balance and happiness in your life. Friday, July 4
Hot Dog Rocket Launch
It would be expected that I would post a patriotic blog today however I couldn't resist posting this video. It reminded me of the crazy curiosity of my sons Tom and Jim and their friends. Sorry for the language but you have to admit the hotdog ultimately is "well done." May you enjoy a safe and fun 4th of July celebration with your family and friends.
