Glad to be home
I have been on the road so very much lately. Last week it was Texas. I was in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin. Before that Indianapolis, Chicago and Detroit and the week before it was Long Island, Philadelphia and Boston. Needless to say, it has been very nice to have two sunshiny days and full moon nights back home in Florida.

This week I head to Nashville to participate in the Southern Women's Show and the following week travel around the state of Tennessee as part of the southwest Vacations Team. The one thing I have learned as I have been traveling so much, Dorothy was right. There is no place like home! Wishing each of my readers Happy Easter and the opportunity to enjoy your day! 0 comments Sunday, March 6
What is your favorite food?
Do you eat dessert? What would be your favorite choice?

Do you share your food when you eat out with others? Mmmm, taste this. One dessert two spoons. Do you like candy? What is your favorite? I ask because it occurs to me that in this hurry up world we live in, food has a special place. Some people use it to comfort or entertain, others use it just for nourishment, some dissect it wanting to know how many carbs, fat, etc. One thing that a growing number of people have in common is the need to eat on the run, get food fast. Seldom do we take the time to think about our favorite food. It is more about what can we get quickly. Gosh, we are in such a hurry that now we don't even need to take the time to suck a lifesaver to get a fresh tasting mouth. We can simply put a Listerine strip in our mouth and it will instantly dissolve. My challenge to you this week is to think about what makes up your favorite meal and eat it. Slow down long enough to savor the tastes. Don't wait until Thanksgiving to make a special meal the center of your day. Enjoy your favorite food. You are special, you deserve a succulent treat. 0 comments Thursday, March 3

Pinnochio Noses for Everyone NYPD Blue Says Goodbye Have been entered by my son Jim, while I'm shivering in Boston, playing in the snow making snow angels. I have snowballs, but no computer. I will be back online Saturday, March 12th. Thanks for stopping by to check for current posts. Enjoy your day. Judy 0 comments Wednesday, March 2
Leaving Long Island
Thankfully, I had requested a taxi to drive me the 38 miles to the airport. The driver greeted me with, "Boy is it ever treacherous out there." I tried to reassure myself as I buckled up in the back seat, "I'm glad I'm leaving the driving to you. I'm sure with a professional driver everything will be okay." "You never can tell," he said "this is the worst ice I've seen in 5 years. It's treacherous. Pretty dangerous out here this morning. You never know when you might skid into a semi and die." On that optimistic note I tightened my seat belt. "Take your time. It is more important that we are safe." In addition to my driver's optimistic outlook, it turned out he has a temper. He kept yelling at the other drivers on the road, signaling them with a one-finger salute. He seemed to be the "Before" poster child for Anger Management Training. One hour later, I am at the airport. Grateful we made the trip safely, only slipping and sliding a few times. My driver is on his way taking his rage with him. Happily sipping on a Diet Coke as I await my plane. I confess I am beginning to think this day has the earmarks of caution on it. I am hoping his stories aren't born out of personal experience. If they are, I hope this flight in no way becomes fodder for his next scary novel. 0 comments
Pinnochio Noses for Everyone
Over the years I have found myself feeling gullible, misled, naive, taken for a fool, disappointed, hurt and sometimes angry to discover that someone I trusted, someone I gave the benefit of doubt, was lying. It would be helpful if there were clear signs, a visible indication that a person was telling a lie. Noses could grow like Pinocchio, or maybe ears would turn red. Perhaps their foot would start tapping uncontrollably. We need a universally recognized sign to identify when what is being said is untrue. Of course, if such a clear indication existed, there would be both positive and negative side effects. It would eliminate the effectiveness of the pathological liar; what is real and what is Memorex in their life would become more clear. On the other hand, as Jim Carrey discovered in the movie "Liar, Liar", if you tell the truth (as you know it) all the time you risk hurting someone's feelings. When someone asks how they look or how the food they prepared tastes, you would have no choice but to answer honestly. Personally, I am willing to take the chance and deal with the disappointment I might feel if I ask for an opinion and don't hear the response I wanted. In exchange, I would have the confidence to trust unconditionally; without fear of later finding out I was a fool. In the meantime, until the "Pinnochio Syndrome" takes hold, I will continue to trust and believe. 0 comments Tuesday, March 1
NYPD Blue Says Goodbye
It is somehow appropriate that I should be watching the last episode alone in a hotel room in Long island traveling on business to educate travel agents. I viewed the first episode alone in a hotel room in Seattle talking on the phone to a nearby room where the other half of the "Dynamic Duo", David Hallal, was watching the show. We had fun critiquing the show. David was hooked early on and watched as often as possible over the next 11 plus years. I wasn't as vigilant but whenever we were together on Tuesday night we tuned in. David is gone and after tonight NYPD Blue will end. Just as this popular show will continue to live in reruns -- David continues to live in my memory. I rerun our experiences. Tonight David is probably checking out Sipawitch and the rest of the gang as he watches this episode from heaven. 0 comments |
