Some Fun Quotes From The Little Book, "Age Doesn't Matter Unless You're A Cheese."

The great man is one who never loses his child's heart. Philosopher Mencius How old would you be if you didn't know how old you was? Baseball Star Satchel Paige We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But if that drop was not in the ocean, I think the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. Humanitarian Mother Teresa I learned that one can never go back, that one should not ever try to go back - that the essence of life is to go forward. Life really is a One Way Street. Writer Agatha Christie Courage is very important. Like a muscle it is strengthed by use. Actress/Writer Ruth Gordon I live by one principle: Enjoy life with no conditions! People say, "If I had your health, if I had your money, oh I would enjoy myself." It is not true. I would be happy if I were lying sick in a hospital bed. It must come from the inside. That is the one thing I hope to have contributed to my children, by example and by talk: to make no conditions, to understand that life is a wonderful thing and to enjoy it, every day, to the full. Musician Artur Rubinstein As long as you can admire and love, then one is young forever. Musician Pablo Casals 0 comments Monday, August 26

Your Child's Laughter
Posted by MzDaVinci @
8:41 AM
When a parent sees their baby smile, it warms their heart. It doesn't matter that someone invariably says, "It's gas babies don't smile." You know in your heart that your baby has smiled at you. As they get older and laugh when you tickle them, you beam and laugh too. Busy lives and conflicting schedules have made it difficult for Tom and I to get to talk. Last night we had a long, catch up call, it was terrific. The nicest part was hearing him laugh. My babies are grown and have babies of their own, yet when I hear Tom and Jim laugh... instantly my heart smiles and like magic everything is right in the world. 0 comments Thursday, August 22
Disney Backstage

Instead of, "Its off to see the Wizard..." their theme song should be, "I'm off to Disney." I have been blessed to have become acquainted with four very special people who work at Tropicana Field during the baseball season. Two couples, each having been married more than forty years. Each is different from the other but they share a common enjoyment of the fun, beauty, and pleasure of exploring the Disney Parks. Dorothy discovered the magic of Oz when Toto pulled back the curtain. This week Ruth, Connie, Don and Frank have traveled Florida's own yellow brick road of unknown dangers, I-4 East to Orlando. Their goal, to share the experience of a Backstage Tour of the Disney Parks. Although the "Wizard" was not what Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man or the Scarecrow expected, he revealed secrets that ultimately brought each of them that special something that made them happy. When Connie, Frank, Ruth and Don return to their own homes, I hope the magic they have unveiled leaves them smiling knowing, "There is no place like Disney - no place like Disney." 0 comments Tuesday, August 20

It seems miraculous and hard to believe.

The local society of caterpillars got together for their annual meeting. The oldest caterpillar addressed the others... "You know it's an extraordinary thing, but we are all going to be butterflies." The caterpillars whispered to each other, "The poor fool. He is just an old man who is frightened of dying; inventing something to comfort himself." Isn't it wonderful that some of the most amazing miracles seem totally unlikely, impossible to believe. Caterpillars lead a life that eventually results in the beautiful experience of life as a butterfly. A miracle, as amazing and beautiful as life after death? Something to think about. 0 comments Saturday, August 17
Oxymorons = Me (smile)

My happiest times right now are when I get lost in sublime ordinariness - it is then that I feel extraordinary and appreciate the unique specialness of being "just Judy" and living the life I have. My life and descriptions of who I am all seem to be oxymorons (smile).... Afraid/Frightened - Extroverted/Happy I have learned that failure is a delay, not a defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead-end street. Change can be rejuvenating, invigorating, fun and necessary. I am quite fortunate that on my journey through life, I have discovered some people I have worked with are much more important than that...they are treasured friends. Not the wealthiest woman in the world - truly the richest woman in the world. 0 comments Friday, August 16

Memories - When shared they are a special gift

I have always known without even the teeniest shadow of a doubt, that I am the most fortunate woman in the world, galaxy, even the universe. Why? Because I am Tom and Jim's mom. The reasons out number the grains of sand on the beach I walk each morning. They out number the stars in heaven. My son Jim recently shared a special memory on his blogspot. It put a smile on my heart, such an unexpected surprise when I found it. You can read it too....go to www.jimmckay.blogspot.com Combine this with the fun fact that his twin brother Tom has built his children a fantastic tree house. I have spent a lifetime enjoying climbing trees and playing outside. How wonderful to know that my son is perpetuating that tradition for his children. Not only continuing it....but doing it in first class style (smile). I am certainly the most fortunate woman ever....I am Jim and Tom's mom. 0 comments Tuesday, August 13

I possess not a thing for I cannot know the unknown if to the known I cling A great quote. I am sorry, I don't know who said it so I can give the appropriate credit. I have been asked, why I have applied as a Volunteer for the Peace Corp? If I want a change, why don't I go to work on a cruiseline or take a more conventional job? The combination of being in a circumstance that I might otherwise never experience, combined with the opportunity to learn and to share... that excites me. The most precious item any of us has is our time. No matter how rich or poor, everyone only has 24 hours each day. You can't buy one more minute. I am just exploring ways to spend mine (smile). Hmmm, I wonder what the future holds? Enjoy your day - take some time to spend on you. 0 comments Saturday, August 10

Martha Stewart's film debut as Mama Bear, "Porridge, its a good thing", and a special guest appearance by Jack Nicholson as Baby Bear, "You can't handle the truth." Consider...

George Burns won his first Oscar when he was 80. In 1962, four young musicians auditioned for Decca Records. The executives dismissed them saying, "We don't like their sound. Groups of guitars are on the way out." The Beatles left without a contract. Golda Meir was 71 when she became Prime Minister of Israel. George Benard Shaw was 94 when one of his plays was first produced. In 1954, Elvis Presley was fired by the manager of the Grand Old Opry, who said, "You ain't goinin' nowhere...son. You ought to go back to drivin' a truck." Colonel Harlan Sanders was broke and the recipient of a $102 monthly social Security check at 65. He began from there to evaluate what he could offer of value and went on to create millionaires all across the world in the chicken business. Winston Churchill assumed the role of Great Britain's Prime Minister at 65. At 70, he addressed the crowds on V-E Day standing on top of his car to speak. Charlie Chaplin, at 75 was still directing movies. After it took Thomas Edison 2000 tries to invent the light bulb, a young reporter asked him how it felt to fail so many times. "I never failed once," Edison said. "It just happened to be a 2000-step process." Grandma Moses did not start painting until she was 78 years old. She completed over 1500 paintings in the remainder of her life, with 25% of those produced after she was 100. Quality, success, contributions - making a difference, is not a chronological issue. Before you decide you are too old to try something new or experience an adventure or face a new challenge, consider the people mentioned. They didn't let criticism or age interfere, it didn't stop them. May nothing stop you from living your life fully. The biggest regret you may face is the risks you didn't take. 0 comments Thursday, August 8
Ingredients
Posted by MzDaVinci @
10:52 AM
Pretend for a moment you were packaged, or canned....what would the ingredients on your label read? Would it say you are intelligent, compassionate, creative, and happy? Or would your ingredients include some distasteful items such as a pessimistic attitude, whining, stubborness and thoughtlessness? More important than the way you look is the way you are. Take time to think about what ingredients consititute you. It is never too late to change the recipe. If necessary you can add some integrity, remove some moodiness or add a dash of patience. Always strive to be the best version of yourself. 0 comments Thursday, August 1
There are some who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.
