About 5 years ago I hiked up Stone Mountain with Rob Price when we were canvassing travel agencies around Atlanta. The other members of our group took the Summit Skyride. Frankly that looked terrifying.
I was proud of myself for making it up and down. Surprisingly down was the tricky direction. You have to be careful not to fall because your body picks up speed.
I have wanted to climb it again as a way to prove to myself that despite age, lack of fitness and surviving health challenges I am still up to the task. It isn't a long climb 1.3 miles but it is up and when you combine the climbing with my fear of heights it is a challenge for me. One that I am very excited about taking again in less than two weeks. If weather cooperates I will climb on Sunday September 18. If it doesn't it will be the following Saturday.
When I successfully make the climb up and down it will be fantastic!
