I thought we would all be driving our cars in the sky, Jetson style by now. When I was growing up, it was fun to imagine the future of families living like the Jetsons.

The dad in "Father Knows Best" used to change into his sweater when he got home from work. My dad used to change his clothes too before he tried to catch a ten minute nap before dinner. Now it is often rare for families to sit down at the dinner table together at the same time each evening and talk about their day. I am not saying it was better then. It was just different. Now many dads work from home and families are on the go hurrying from one activity to another. Today's families squeeze alot into their 24 hours.
Families definitely come in all shapes and sizes.
The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck
