Men beware!
According to history:

"For women, February 29th can also be a very successful day as once every four years on the 29th February they have the “right” to propose to a man.

The right of every women to propose on 29th February each leap year goes back hundreds of years when the leap year day had no recognition in English law (the day was 'leapt over' and ignored, hence the term 'leap year'). It was decided that the day had no legal status, meaning that a break in tradition on this day was acceptable.

So on this day women can take advantage of this anomaly and propose to the man they wish to marry.

In Scotland, however, to ensure success, they should also wear a red petticoat under their dress - and make sure that it is partly visible to the man when they propose. For those wishing to take advantage of this ancient tradition, 29th February is your day! "

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a slightly different idea (although I like the idea of wearing a red petticoat). I think of February 29th and Leap Year in terms of Sadi Hawkins. It is the day woman can indeed select their man as history shows above BUT my twist is that if you are a woman currently in a relationship and have a man then on this day he is to give you a present. It is his way of saying thank you for selecting me, or agreeing to be with me.

I don't think Hallmark should make all the holidays. I love Ground Hog's Day and the First Day of Spring. I think it is time to add this new holiday tradition to be celebrated every four years.

Consequently, gentleman I suggest you surprise your lady this day with a gift. It can be small or elaborate depending on your budget and imagination. I really believe if you take a gift to your lady and wish her a Happy Leap Year or Happy Sadi Hawkins Day you will be well rewarded. Who knows you may get the opportunity to see that red petticoat or even enter the world of bliss conciousness. Enjoy this most special day!

The sunsets was awesome tonight.

Anne Frank:
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.

Self acceptance & happiness

Beginning...
In one of James Allen's lesser known books, Byways of Blessedness, he devotes the entire first chapter to beginnings. He writes, "Most beginnings are small, and appear trivial and insignificant, but in reality they are the most important things in life."Without a beginning you could have the greatest idea and the greatest plan in the world and you would still fail.

Where as a modest idea and an incomplete plan often produces success when accompanied by even an "insignificant" beginning. "Beginning" is just another way to describe the most powerful six-letter word in the vocabulary of achievers: A-C-T-I-O-N.

Hugely successful people, the kind who go from mediocre to millions almost overnight, know that the major key to their success was taking MASSIVE ACTION. When Jeff Bezos decided to start Amazon.com, he left his job on the East Coast and headed to Washington State. He had his wife drive him and their belongings across the country so that he could stay on the phone constantly, convincing potential investors and vendors why Amazon would be a success.

Even the smallest of actions, the ones James Allen called trivial and insignificant, can lead to great success. Sir Isaac Newton's principle that a "body at rest tends to remain at rest and a body in motion tends to remain in motion," definitelyapplies to the action principle. Once you've taken the first step (even a baby step), the next steps seem easier to take.

A terrific reminder to start the week.
The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again, and it won again. The local paper read:

PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT.

The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in another race. The next day, the local paper headline read:

BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS.

This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent. The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day:

NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN.

The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10. The next day the paper read:

NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.

This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild. The next day the headlines read:

NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE.

The bishop was buried the next day.

The moral of the story is . . . being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery . . even shorten your life.

Walking at the Mall.

Yesterday I resorted to walking in the Mall. It was late in the day so it wasn't a question of joining the other "Mall Walkers" it was more a choice of opportunity meets weather.

I haven't been to the Mall or for that matter shopping for "Mall Stuff" in much more than a year. It actually may be two. I have never been much of a shopper but have enjoyed finding a new outfit, or shoes, or something every once in a while. Unfortunately, I haven't had the financial luxury lately.

The realization that I hadn't been "shopping" hit me as I walked through Macy's. It has changed
tremendously; at least the one located at the Tyrone Mall has. It was laid out in a new way and the clothes were awesome. I confess there may have been a little drool as I saw them. I smiled wondering what I would purchase if I were to purchase an "outfit" or should I say "ensemble" (smile). It would be fun to get new things from lingerie, to new clothes, shoes and accessories.

But alas the timing for shopping isn't quite right. The good news is that seeing everything perked up the speed of my walk after I left the store. I imagine that shopping will be truly awesome if I get more in shape. The timing for that is perfect. It doesn't cost anything and I can do it right now!

Why???
Why, with all the advances in technology are bike helmets so ugly? I am also confused as to their value if you fall off your bike, as you are to wear them squarely on top of your head?!?

Of course, I know it is better to be safe than fashionable.

Ideas running rampant, confused, and perplexed.
I think I am feeling the effects of a boggled mind today.

Have you ever had a morning when you woke up and new you had tons of things to do, lots of "have tos" and "needs to be done" and yet you can't get focused?

I feel like I am caught is a maze and I am rushing to get thing in order to launch my website and I get lost and end up at a dead end.
I don't seem to be able to get out of my own way. I need to stop sabatoging my own efforts. I seem to do that when it comes to getting in good shape, when I am on the threshold of a major accomplishment. I can hear Dr. Phil's voice in my head saying, "And how's that working for you?"

I can't help but laugh at myself this morning as I unboggle my brain. Time to replace "intention" with "action."

President's Day will be celebrated on Monday. It's a perfect time to share some of the words from our First Ladies.

How to answer questions 101.
Invent new words, redefine behaviors or baffle and confuse.

When questioned, Roger Clemens told Congress he "misheard" and "misremembered."

When President Clinton was confronted with having sex with Monica Lewensky, he redefined his actions. No longer would such oral behavior be considered sex.

When Miss South Carolina was questioned ....well, you've seen it. Decide for yourself. Was she baffled or being confusing?

My favorite Valentines song. It would be wonderful if everyone accepted everyone, "Just the way you are."
Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldnt leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, Ill take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are
Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care
I dont want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.
I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.
I said I love you and thats forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

On this Valentines Day, I hope you are loved, "Just the way you are."

Happy Valentines Day!

I have left the heart blank on purpose.
Each of us has our own definition of love and way we wish to celebrate this day.
I hope your Valentines Day brings you happiness.

I love this. The Indian who shared this was very wise.
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

She is known for helping people lose weight BUT she is also a successful entrepreneur.

Jillian Michaels has been one of the trainers on the television show, The Biggest Loser. In addition, she is a very successful author and entrepreneur. Below are the three common reasons she feels business people don't reach their goals.

1. They don't really truly identify what they want. They are so caught up in what other people want for them or they haven't really idnetified their passion in life.

2. They don't believe in their ability to achieve their dreams. What is the difference between you and Oprah? Nothing, except that she believed in herself and asked, "Why not me?" where most of us ask, "Why me? Why do I deserve great things? etcetera."

3. Most people are not willing to put in the work and make the sacrifices. You can't just wish for things; you have to work for them.

The information above was an excerpt from the January/February issue of Home Business. I think it is terrific and a bullseye.

It all depends on how you look at it.
Up close it looks like Einstein. Move back and it appears to be Mariyln Monroe. It is all in the way you look at it.

Great book - interesting concept.

Peter Walsh was on Oprah yesterday. He was illustrating the coorelation between clutter and our weight. The more clutter in our homes, our thoughts, our lives the more likely we are to turn to food for instant gratification.
If our homes have chaos instead of being a refuge from the world, we are more likely to find order in shopping and ordering food out instead of cooking.
Mr. Walsh has a wonderful tone to his voice and a caring manner. He is never judgmental when he tries to help people perform a "clean sweep."
Who would have guessed that a book with such a silly title, "Does this clutter make my butt look fat?" would be serious and helpful.
If you are carrying a few too many pounds maybe you should look at your environment. Is your home the haven that makes you feel comfortable, safe and peaceful, or is there clutter? Is your mind cluttered with thoughts of all the things you need to do? Are you overwhelmed juggling home, family and work?
If you said yes to any of these questions you may want to take a walk, go to the "Y," exercise, prepare a home cooked meal, or buy this book.
In order to live our own best lives sometimes we have to make "good" choices not necessarily the "easy" ones.
Time for me to tie my shoes and go for a walk. My mind has definitely been on an emotional roller coaster lately and if the choice is between sharing time with my friends, Ben & Jerry, or taking a walk I think the "good" choice is to walk. Enjoy your day!

I have the greatest daughters!
Both Shelia and Carol are inspirational. Each is currently working out and getting into wonderful shape.

Shelia participates with "Curves." Her curves look awesome thanks to her dedication to the 30 minute circuit .

Carol is currently in a local "Biggest Loser" competition and has been working out regularily at the YMCA in Huntington.

I am confident that 2008 will be healthier and happier for them thanks to their effort. They are inspiring me to work out in an effort to become the best version of myself.

Thank you ladies.

Calling all the King's horsemen and all the Kingsmen.
Today some of the canidates for President took a fall. They didn't find the success they anticipated at the polls. All the kings' horses and all the king's men can't put them back on top again.

Meanwhile the front runners are checking their history books to make sure they don't make any political blunders that will send their chances tumbling.

Super Tuesday? OR Fat Tuesday?

Lots of people will be going to the polls. Will you?

Or will you be joining in the fun and celebration of Fat Tuesday?

Naysayers give you 2 choices.
1. Believe what they say

OR

2. Prove them wrong.

When you believe in yourself, anything is possible.

It is truly awesome when you have a team that believes in possibilities. Congratulations, to Eli Manning and the New York, Giants .
