Getting to know me:
I am blessed with an over active enthusiasm gland and an appreciation of the precious gift of life.

I am trying to break lose of being a hostage "to what I should do."

Do I have the courage to step across the threshold into the exciting world of possibilities?!?

 Sunday, October 14

Wow, what a weekend.
I filled this weekend to overflowing. I was feeling concerned about finances so I decided the remedy was to remind myself how many fantastic life experiences are free. My only costs ended up being gas for my car and a few dollars for something to eat when I was out and about.

With the help of the Weekender section of the St. Pete Times and free tickets for the Bucs/Titans game I was ready.

Saturday was breakfast at the Seaside Grille at the edge of the Gulf.

Then it was downtown St. Pete where my feet truly got a work-out as I went from the Saturday Morning Market, to investigate doing a signing at the Barnes and Noble at USF. Then over to the St. Pete Pier (still walking) to view all the motorcycles participating at the BikeFest. Then to the top of the Pier for refreshments at Cha Cha Coconuts.

Next it was back to the car. My next stop was in the beautiful Kenwood neighborhood for their art show. The homes here are magnificent, most are bungalows in the Craftsman style of architecture.

Continuing my trek across the county, I found myself at the Asia Pacific Rim Festival held in Pinellas Park. It was their first annual and from the look of the participants and vendors it won't be the last. I was fascinated by the large number of islands and countries represented. Many people wore the dress of their homeland and served and sold delicacies from their country. They even had a juice made from sugar cane.

Just when you think that would have been enough of an adventure to make anyone's Saturday special, I received a voicemail message from my son, Jim, letting me know he had placed the "button" on my blog so visitors can just click and order my book, Sell More... An Entrepreneur's Guide To Marketing On A Small budget. Strategies That Make A Big difference.

I was surprised he found the time around his busy schedule. It was an awesome surprise. I had him and his travels and family on my mind, wondering what they were doing over the weekend and wishing they could have been joining me on my adventure. I also would have beamed my son Tom and his family down from Tennessee to join me or if I had been very fortunate I would have beamed me up there to watch Noah and Hope play their last soccer games for the season. If money had not been an issue that would have been where I would have been. Maybe I will see everyone at Thanksgiving or sometime before the year ends.

Anyway back to my weekend adventure. As you can see, I have nearly traveled around the globe this Saturday, at least experiencing cultures from far away. I thought about going to nearby Dunedin to enjoy their version of Octoberfest. It would be fun to see how a Scottish community enjoys a German celebration. But alas, I decided to go to Kinkos.
I've always been about mixing pleasure with business whenever possible. For example while exploring the Saturday Market I got a lead on a company that might help me with promotional materials, I received the invitation to do a signing while I was at Barnes and Noble, and my son helped me with a link to purchase my book. At Kinkos I learned about the cost involved in printing postcards.
I even ended the day at the movies where I saw "Michael Clayton." It was very good, but 2 hours with George Clooney would top off most anyone's day.
Today has turned out to be a sensational Sunday. I love sports and the Bucs and Titans were evenly matched. Actually, the Titans played better but we were fortunate that we were able to kick a winning touchdown in the last seconds of the game. My compliments to the Titans back-up quarterback, Kerry Collins. He did an admirable job when Vince Young had to leave the game due to a leg injury. It was a hard fought battle in brutal heat. I held a sign for saying hi to Hope, Noah, Jake and Jonah. I don't know if the game was televised in their areas or if they saw it but I missed them and wished they could have been there to join in the fun.
I have a busy week ahead of me but I feel better. My spirit is rejuvenated, some strides have been made professionally and personally. It was a fun weekend. I am very blessed to live in paradise. Especially a paradise that offers so many different opportunities for fun.
