Whenever I am experiencing a writer's block or am having trouble being motivated, I research people who stumbled before they succeeded, persevered despite naysayers, or excelled despite a past that presented numerous challenges and fearful moments.
Today I read about Tyler Perry. His childhood was marred by poverty and physical abuse. He was once homeless and lived in his car for six months. At his lowest point he even attempted suicide.
Today he is a recognized author, playwrite, actor and movie mogul. He has his own studio and will soon pilot a television sitcom.
I first encountered Tyler Perry when I went to the movie "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" it was hilarious. He portrays Madea in the movie.

A large opinionated black woman who dispenses no nonsense wisdom. She says what others might only think.
Tonight both Tyler Perry and his alter ego Madea are inspiring me. Sometimes you just need to take a moment and peek into someone else's life to renew your own, "I can do it" spirit.
