Super Bowl Sunday
Yesterday I attended a beautiful wedding in Bradenton, Florida. It was a nice day and the Bride and Groom are on their way to living happily ever after.

After the reception I got to see the new Travolta movie, "From Paris With Love". Personally I think John Travolta was great. He played a similar not by the books type of guy like Bruce Willis has done in the Die Hard movies. Lots of action and shooting but the kind of violence that doesn't seem so powerful and graphic that you have to hide your eyes. It is almost cartoon like in its rapid fire. The movie was fun and entertaining. I give it a 10 on my 1 to 10 scale. Lots of action peppered with humor and unexpected twists. Today is Super Bowl Sunday and I am watching the game with friends at Mugs & Jugs. It is a fun sports bar restaurant. I like watching the Super Bowl out in the midst of a crowd. It makes it feel like you are part of the craziness as if you were there. I like both teams but hope that the Colts win. I think Peyton Manning is awesome and know that others won't recognize his greatness until he has multiple championship rings. Drew Brees and the Saints also present a terrific story so if they win today I will remain happy. I think it will be a high scoring game and fun to watch. Thankfully we don't have snow or power outages to contend with today. I pray that all that do have such challenges be careful and stay safe. Friday, February 5
A fun combination of 2 things I like.
Too bad there isn't 6 more weeks of football. I like both teams in the Super Bowl on Sunday. If asked to pick one to be the winner I would take the Colts but won't be surprised to see the Saints win. It should be a good game. A fun conclusion to the year in football. Hopefully, the Bucs won't be pitiful next year. Thursday, February 4

Old age
I used to define old age by the calendar. When I was a little girl and heard someone say they were thirty something, I would think, "wow, they are ancient".

As the years on my life calendar flipped over year after year I changed my thinking. Twenty to twenty-five years older than whatever I was became my new definition of old. Over the years I have come to realize that the "age" of a person no longer defines them as being "old". It is more based on behavior. We all probably know at least one person that has already adapted to a lifestyle that we would consider that of someone decades older than what the number on their life calendar reads. Today it is how tech savvy we are that seems to instantly give young children permission to define someone as "ancient". My well earned wrinkles, the age on my life calendar are badges I wear proudly. They each tell a tale about my fantastic life adventure and were well earned for surviving. Thanks to my parents, I remain blessed with an over-active enthusiasm gland. I feel fortunate that through all the twists and turns of my adventure I still have a child-like wonder and curiosity about all life has to offer. Places to see and people to meet. It is technology that reminds me that I am in many ways "ancient". I try to learn and keep up however the changes are rapid. Silly me, I thought phones were for phone calls and voicemail messages. Now you can text, even use acronyms and codes, watch television, see videos, play music and they can help you find your way to name just some of their functions. I may be ancient, I may have less days in front of me than behind me but I am a very lucky blessed lady. How do you define "old age"? ![]() Tuesday, February 2
Happy Ground Hog's Day!
![]() I celebrate this day every year. It is one of my personal favorite holidays. It is a reminder that Spring is coming and soon the days will remain light later. It has always been a day that reminded me that life gives us lots of possibilities. When I lived north where the skies were gray for days, weeks and sometimes a month, Ground Hog's Day let me know that change was around the corner. Strange as it might seem that has been a happy reminder to me when maybe things happening in my life weren't "sunny". Just as Phil is curious and comes out on this day to check the weather. I have survived whatever challenges I have faced in my life because of my enormous faith and my curiosity to see what will happen next. I celebrate Ground Hog's Day because it reminds me to believe in possibilities and to look forward to the future with hope and a smile. Monday, February 1
The Book of Eli
![]() I saw the movie this weekend and it was a terrific storyline and great acting. Unfortunately, I didn't take the time to think that if the world was struggling to survive after such devastation and war that it would be violent. I had my eyes covered and my ears plugged for a great deal of the movie. Graphic violence isn't my thing. The violence in this movie is graphic along the lines of a Kill Bill movie rather than a Lethal Weapon type of movie. Despite that I would still give the movie a 10 out of 10 because the violence was appropriate for how realistic the movie was. Be prepared when you go. It is excellent. |
