Getting to know me:
I am blessed with an over active enthusiasm gland and an appreciation of the precious gift of life.

I am trying to break lose of being a hostage "to what I should do."

Do I have the courage to step across the threshold into the exciting world of possibilities?!?

Just be nice!
It would be wonderful if people didn't choose to interpret what others are "really thinking and feeling".  If Jesus can suffer on the cross and forgive us of all our sins, it seems wrong that we can't open our hearts to forgive others.

It has taken me a long time during my life adventure to realize, that although some things are out of our control, we still have the opportunity to make choices. We can choose to be happy.  We can choose to be kind. We can choose to forgive.  We can control how we react to situations and our attitude.

We can't control what others think or do however we can control what we think and do. Sometimes I have been guilty of letting other people's thoughts and actions get into my head and make me question and second guess myself. I have to realize that they are entitled to have different thoughts and opinions than I do. We each have different experiences, perspectives and information.

I am sure God is looking down and saying, "Well duh! Now you are starting to get it."

So I will choose to be nice and let the chips fall where they may. If someone chooses to think there is an alteria motive than that is their choice.  I will make mistakes and hope to be forgiven. I will do better when I know better. I will continue to treasure and enjoy each day that I am given. I will live with enthusiasm and I will cherish my family and friends. I will stop writing this and get on with completing my book (smile).

I enjoy Bon Jovi and have this CD. I like lots of the songs on it. This video has given me the idea to put smiles on labels and pass them out.  Hope you have a nice day.  Smiles are contagious. Pass yours on.

I used an old sign on a stand to make a table. I spray painted it with chalk board paint.
I use colored chalk and write messages. When the stormy weather comes they become erased and evaporate into the universe.

Gloria shared this story with me. It has special meaning to me. I believe that people should take the time to be nice. You may make an amazing difference in someone's life.

A Glass of Milk !!!

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?" You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness." He said ... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit. Many years later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.

Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case. After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge, and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ...

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"
(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.

Thankfully we don't have this type of lighting in my class but definitely the same steps and music.
I have the distinction of being the oldest and fattest but I love it!

Zumba
I am enjoying my class. I definitely sweat. If I lost pounds as quickly as the workout makes me drip with sweat that scale would show a drop.

It is nice that Zumba doesn't require any equipment or special attire. Eventually I will invest in some new shoes because mine are definitely looking pitiful from walking and now Zumba.

Been making progress on my book and remain hopeful that I will have my manuscript completed by
May 4th. I believe that it will serve as a resource for other women who are facing a journey with endometrial cancer. My intention is to inform and most importantly instill hope and remind them that "Cancer is a word not a sentence."  They should live each day.

Tomorrow I take an intermission and go to see the Rays baseball game. It will be the first one I will have seen this year. I am excited. The tickets are free and even have a parking pass so the price is perfect. Can't wait.

Excited that I got to have some adventures!
On Saturday, I got an early start by seeing the Hot Air Balloon Festival over Paradise at 6AM in Lommokalee, Florida then as we were traveling back home we discovered the Muscle Car Museum in Punta Gorda and I got to see several of the 1967 Camero Convertibles (my favorite car) and then it was pie at Yoders in Sarasota (as seen on on TV's Man vs Food). I have missed adventures.

For more than 2 months I have been excitedly anticipating a return to my Monday adventures. It was amazing that the opportunity came just a few days after my fun Saturday.  I got to go to the Mote Aquarium in  Sarasota and enjoyed a 2 hour nature boat trip. We even stopped at an island and got to explore. They threw a net into the water and the naturalist pulled in seahorses, various fish including a puffer fish and even different varieties of star fish.  All went back to their home in the water.  The Aquarium had a deep sea dolphin (I didn't know they existed. I never knew a breed could go down 3000 feet, yes thousands!). They had two manatees, so cute(I thought they were fat but it is 1,300 pounds of muscle all from eating romaine lettuce. Who knew?).

It has been two fantastic adventures. Now it is back to work on my book and breaks for walking and Zumba tonight and Thursday. I remain hopeful that my scale will one day reflect a lower number and my manuscript will be done by my self-imposed deadline of May 4th.

Survived Zumba!
I was sweating like crazy. The instructor is beautiful and although I was the oldest and biggest lady, I kept up. LOL I am not sayng I followed and mastered the moves but I gyrated and kept up.  The classes are Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I am going to try adding this to my walking in hopes of unsticking my scale.

Anticipating a great weekend.
Yesterday was wonderful - It started at midnight when I received a fantastic compliment from my grandson, Noah, I made serious progress on my book, I received a birthday package from Tom, Shelia, Hope and Noah that made me smile to overflowing, I got a nice email from my niece Jasmine, I got a compliment from my sister, Bonnie, I received my 2011 blog printed and bound thanks to Jack Peavy, I got a text from my daughter, Carol and it included me in the haircut of my grandson, Jake (who looks terrific), last night I took a break from writing and used the slide viewer that Jim, Carol, Jake and Jonah gave me for my birthday and looked at old slides I hadn't seen in decades. The best was finding all the pictures from my adventure to Africa. As soon as I save some money I am going to get prints made and put them in a book to keep them all together.
Today I have my introduction to Zumba. This weekend I get to go to the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Immokalee, Florida.  I have been thrilled to have flown in a hot air balloon twice in my life. I even found the slides last night. Both times we crashed. Once my family was there as we flew in North Carolina and a freak storm came up, sending us to the ground. No one was hurt, just soaked. My pink dress became transparent. In Africa, we had just flown over lions dining on a zebra when we crashed due to wind shear.  I was never so happy to see Masi Warriors to escort us to safety. I have even been to Albuquerque for their annual Hot Air Balloon Festival and hope to go again. The only problem with these festivals and rides is that they take place early in the morning. They will be taking off in Immokalee at 6 AM. I am excited. I love having things to look forward to.

I hope you are enjoying your NOW and happily looking forward to something fun in your future.

This Thursday evening I am going to take a Zumba class. As long as there are no cameras I should be okay.
Harvard University Research once referred to exercise as
"Miracle Grow for the brain."

A true blessing.
I love to go to the movies and enjoy watching previews. It is fun to anticipate a movie that will be in theatres in a few weeks or months.

On the other hand I am sincerely grateful that my life didn't come with previews. I might have become frightened by some of its parts and been unable to appreciate how awesome the "feature presentation" has been. My life adventure is a true blessing.

I will leave looking into the future and crystal balls to others, no previews needed.

A look at the creation of my book.
Thankfully, the walls haven't been painted in over 6 or 7 years so I have the luxury of using the wall to storyboard my book. The colored papers on my bedroom door are quotes that will be incorporated into the book. The whiteboard is the skeleton, the general framework. Progress is being made. My hope is to have the manuscript completed by May 4th. That is the anniversary of my first chemo and it is also Star Wars Day. Hopefully, the force will be with me.

Some pictures from old slides. Amazing memories!
Ice Skating. I remember this day. It was fun.

I wonder if my sons ever take their children ice skating. I know they enjoy watching hockey.

Some of my "family" as I was adopted by this wonderful Samburu Tribe on our visit to Africa.

The tall gentleman second from the right nearly became my fiance when I participated in the ceremonial dances with the women of the tribe. Fortunately, Ahmed stopped me in time. The consolation prize they tried to give me was a baby goat. FYI goats squirm when they are placed in your arms. It was an extraordinary day. A true blessing to have this experience.
